For week 2 of the most anticipated and massively hyped F3 expansion, @F3PhoenixAZ, The Foundation sent three intrepid souls from @F3Metro/@F3Core to lead the hordes who have been anxiously awaiting the F3 launch in their region.
Phoenix has long been a Mecca for celebrities and fancy-schmantzy people from around the world, but since the Foundation’s budget wouldn’t stretch far enough to fly them all in, we decided to bring a few celebs along in our carry-ons.
Foo started off with a brief disclaimer and off we went into the early morning AZ gloom.
Mosey around the park to a fire ant free spot for an extended COP with several celebrity guests:
Side Straddle Hops x15
Imperial Walkers x15
Copperhead Squats x15
Peter Parker x15 (our first celebrity sighting)
JLo x15 (now we get some real celebs posting)
John Travolta x10 each side
Makhtar N’Diaye (look him up) x10
Freddie Mercury x15
Partner up. FNGs with a vet as a partner
P1 run to the blue trash can in the distance and back while P2 does called exercise, then flapjack.
Round 1: Merkins
Round 2: Freddie Mercury
Round 3: squats
Round 4: plankorama
Hand the Q to My Sharona.
Mosey to the hill at the back of the park
Bear Crawl to to top, sprint back
Round 2 with Crab walk
Round 3 with inch worm
Round 4 with dragon walks
Since the pax were enjoying this so much, Sharona decided to stay at the hill for 11s.
Diamonds on the front side, full sit-ups on the back side, run up and over the hill in between reps. #crowdpleaser
There were no refuseniks in this tough AZ crowd, while Sweater Vest and LongBoard were crushing the 11s
10 Turkish getups OYO
Mosey back to the playground wall to introduce Sharona’s favorite celebrity,
Mike Tyson x15
15 dips, 15 derkins, rinse and repeat.
Hand off to Skoal Bandit
Mosey to the pic-a-nic shelter
10 step ups each leg, then 10 Bulgarian split squats each leg
Rinse and repeat twice more
Dial Up is the master of step ups!
Mosey back onto the field for another celebrity guest, Roxanne.
Every time Sting sings Roxanne, do a merkin. When he says red light, do a plank jack. After this, we decided that no one likes this song anymore.
10 side straddle hops
Etc etc down to 1
One more celebrity guest…Jack Webb. 1 merkin, 1 hand clap. Up to 10, then back down with odd numbers only. #smoker
A few Monkey Humpers for the fun of it, then we finish up with some Mary, including Oblique crunches, L and R x15, LBCs and Mountain Climbers.
Skoal with an awesome take out.
Naked Man Moleskine:
Week 2 of the Phoenix launch was another great success with three FNGs and 4 returners from last week, plus Sandbag, the seasoned veteran of the Mesa group.
There seems to be some momentum building from the office of Sweater Vest, Spaetzle and Long Board. They were throwing out many new names to EH at Coffeeteria, so we expect to see a lot more posting soon.
TClaps to all three FNGs for posting, especially the 2 who drove a good ways to the AO:
Schlitz (Ken Miller) is a college buddy of Skoal’s, as is Job Security (Kevin Dieball). JS was originally named Chlorine at COT, but after spending the next 24 hours with him and hearing some of his stories, YHCs unanimously decided Job Security is a more appropriate nickname.
LongBoard (works with SV and is from Hawaii) is a new father, so prayers go out to him and his family. Congratulations brother!
TClaps to the 4 returning champs who were FNGs last week:
-Sweater Vest, who clearly is called to do this! #wheelhouse Will unfortunately be DR the next two weeks, but look forward to having his enthusiasm back with the pax soon after.
-Dial Up, sporting the leprechaun shirt under his workout attire, driving a long way and posting before his granddaughter’s soccer game!
-Spaetzle, who’s still trying to figure out how to pronounce his nickname, but he has the shovel flag, so he has to post next week!
-Tweeter, who’s been quietly posting for awhile and who might become the next Silent Assassin!
Also big props to Sandbag for driving a long way to the workout and bringing his experience and toughness (as evidenced by his pre-workout ruck!) to this new group of men.
We also brought along the #BigSpeaker and had the tunes cranking during the workout. The playlist:
*Already Gone-The Eagles
*Running Down a Dream-Tom Petty
*Won’t Get Fooled Again-The Who
*My Hero-Foo Fighters
*American Girl-Tom Petty
*Rock and Roll-Led Zep
*Banditos-The Refreshments (biggest band ever from Tempe, AZ!)
*All Day and All Night-The Kinks
*My Generation-The Who
*Take It Easy-The Eagles (Winslow, AZ…work with me)
*All Along the Watchtower-Jimi Hendrix
The three of us enjoyed our time in Phoenix. Highlights were: OHSO for happy hour, dinner and breakfast, watching Sharona eat practically an entire apple pie with ice cream, watching Sharona devour a massive Monte Cristo sandwich, watching Sharona pretty much eat all day. Staying in Job Security’s unbelievable “cabin”, hiking the massive Boulder Trail in the Tonto National Forest #doubledown #mykneeshurt, the breakfast burritos at Alphonso’s, seeing all the elk and the scenery up in Payson and plenty of Second F. #grateful
It was great getting to know the Phoenix pax and seeing the opportunity for growth amongst the men in that area. We look forward to watching it explode!
